Does it block all .exe's? You could always try malwarebytes and Spybot search and destroy. Both free and very effective.

@ Sio: have you ever tried ultraVNC? You can create a one-click install that doesn't write anything to the registry. It might be useful if he can't install anything...

I had this exact same virus and reformat was the only way!!!!! I tried spybot, avas, norton, and had a tech from the local computer store come over and work with it for an hour only to say "c-format time".

I will now backup my important files every week. The reformat only took about 2 hours :).

Your local computer tech is teh fail....Most virus you can recover from, just take patience and know how.

Tell him to check out Microsoft Security Essentials (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/). It's free to dl/use and it has real-time protection that won't use too much resources.

I have a few friends who swear by it, one who repairs and recovers data for a living. He told me that it has blocked multiple worms when he's slaved client's HDD's to his comp.

Well in case that doesn't work. You're best bet is to Reformat I had this problem and reformatting doesn't take that long, just a pain in the ASS.

In addition, if you do reformat download AVAST it is an awesome antivirus.
