Can we set the user side rates back to unlimited. The 67; 66; 30000 tic limit is bottlenecking me and I've noticed decreased performance. And way to set it back to unlimited even though its 66 tic?

If the server tic is 66 your not going to get anything more then 66, just simple as that. If it's 100 then your gonna get 100, if you have a good connection.

My connection hasnt changed BUT I do know what it wont go above 67, however im running wireless, and since the limit on the user side rates, my choke is usually a lot higher. I get absolutely no registration when its apparent that i should. All my settings are correct. For the 30 seconds that i can actually set my rates to 100 on the server the choke disappears and i get smooth registration. After that it all goes wrong...

Unlimited rates allows rate glitching.
There is no reason why you should have more rates than a server, or less.
Unless of course, you DO like rate hacking?

What ever happened to As long as they where close enough.. .play on...
admins usually where able to correct the really bad ones.
cuz def not thrilled about auto set. Especially because it auto re-try's me when i am about to start playing, and when it does that it makes me not want to join again.

But i mean if there was some test that showed that having everyone with the same 67 tic setup somehow made the game more even (lol) or was better for the server. then keep the shit! roar.

the office server no longer has the rates deal on it so there shouldnt be any issues as that was all that was changed/added.

Thanks Sio, I know I can always count on N/U admins.
Thanks a lot,
Dan

*Edit* BTW MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT ALREADY <3

i play better with the forced rate, just my 2 cents.

I have mine set to 100,101, 30000. And i havent ever had a problem, even with a 50-65 ping. And i actually set it to 66 66 25000 to test and see which ran better and it ran like crap. Maybe you should try those rates Lou.

i have magik and i don't notice a difference at all. i have even put them all at 0 and all i notice is it seams to make the reaction slower by a little bit, but registry stays the same all the time.

I am just curious about the overall rates for the NU servers.

Should I run with 30000, 100, 100? Or stay at 25000, 66, 66? I have tried both of them honestly and I do, at times, recieve a bit of choke/lag.

P.S. I also run on a wireless laptop, but my ping does not go over 80-85. The highest is 90, but that only occurs when I enter the server (usually lowers as I play).

Thanks to whomever answers my little question :)

Depends on what server you are in.

If the server is 66 tick, go with 25000 66 66 , if the server is 100 tick go with 30000 100 100.

So I am going to have to be switching my rates constantly in different servers? Not a problem, but thats what it seems like after looking at the server TIC rates.

P.S. The problem seems to have dissapeared from the regular office server. I am performing just fine or to the point of just managing :)

Thanks again DoT.

i think you can do these binds so you can change your rates on the fly...

bind "key here" "cl_cmdrate 100; cl_updaterate 100; rate 30000"
bind "key here" "cl_cmdrate 66; cl_updaterate 66; rate 30000"

if they dont work post a thread about it and ill make up an alias script to do it.

I remember hearing something way back when, that rates automatically got set when u entered a n\u Server.
I don't know if they still do, but I do recall reading that

Nah, i think they just prevent them from going into ranges that force lag.

Note: Ping hackers (AKA Maskers) can use scripts and hacks to force their rates lower, causing lag.
