So i have finally got around to this. Mainly due to the rise of name hackers (as well as other hackers) i feel that everyone should know and acquaint themselves with the uses of the Steam consol. Namely, the User ID#'s for each individual in the server.

What is a User id #? Basically, every time you join a server, you are assigned a user id #. That number will stay with you until the server resets, or you disconnect. Join again, and you will have a different id #. The way to display your user id (as well as everyone else's) is to open consol and type status. The user #'s will be displayed as a series of numbers on the left, next to each person's name. Here's an example:

# userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state
# 1072 "All glory to the Hypnotoad" STEAM_0:0:8456942 01:41 84 0 active

I've highlighted the hacker in question. He was aimbotting, as well as using a name changer. If you will look closely, you will notice the space at the very of the hacker's name. That is how i can tell the difference between the two. :)

Now, since i know his user id #, i can easily track him. Even if he continues to change his name (which he will more than likely) the user # will stay the same. How will this help you? If you are taking a demo and are going to upload it, this will ensure that the proper person is banned. *NOTE* When submitting demos, the user id # is NOT needed, only the steam id. This tactic will only help you track the hacker so you can obtain the steam id easier. Ultimately, the hacker will get banned, helping us help YOU have a clean, fun server to play in. :)

Happy Shootsting. =P

Thx for pointing this out ender.

The User ID # is also useful for us admins!! Occasionally you'll see an asshole hacking with a name like ' or @all. These are variables in sm language that can confuse the plugin, preventing you from banning them. ' will keep you from banning them while @all will ban everyone. So instead of typing sm_ban @all 0 "hacking" into console, you can type sm_ban #241 0 "hacking" and, assuming the hacker's User ID was #241, they will be permanently banned.
